Joseph & Heather Escobar are the founders of the Summer House Orphanage Foundation. In 1999 when their baby girl Summer was about to be born, Heather and Joe paused to admire their baby’s nursery. All was ready for her arrival within a month. It was at that time that in a passing comment, Heather mentioned to Joe that their new baby girl had more personal space in the United States then most families do in other countries. They realized, "We are blessed and countless children are suffering all over the world". The Escobars had a new mission in life and it seemed overwhelming. Nevertheless, in a short time, Joe and Heather began the formation of a bigger than life idea - The Summer House Orphanage Foundation. In 2003 the Summer House Orphanage Foundation, Inc. was incorporated under another charity and when the laws changed in 2007, the Summer House Orphanage Foundation incorporated with the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation.
"OK Let's start with Support for Orphanages in Colombia!" Newly formed Board of Directors AGREED! BODs are; Joe Escobar, Heather Escobar, William Butler, Dario Escobar, John Escobar, Dr. Randy Laurich, Giovanni Brus, Carlos and Adriana Valencia. Many volunteers donate their professional skills, resources, network of friends, associates and time to rescue orphans. We recognize these individuals for the donations to build the first Home-Style Orphanage and retrofit it to accept orphans from the distress of being alone in the world and providing them with a nurturing Summer House home, education, love and spiritual nurturing.
